St Petersburg - Day 1

Hey everyone! So as I mentioned in my last post, I took a short trip up to St. Petersburg to meet my Mum and do some general sightseeing. Before having moved to Voronezh, I had never actually been to Russia, so there were (and still are!) many places that I want to go and visit. St. Petersburg has always been at the top of my list of places to visit, and it would be silly not to take to opportunity not to visit it whilst here in Russia. SP is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited - it has the amazing European style architecture yet the charm of a true Russian city. One of my favourite things about the city is the canals that run through it. Although I have never been to Venice, I would definitely agree with those who refer to it as 'The Venice of the North' - the canals really give the city a special feel to is. Being big fan of photography, I made sure to bring my big DSLR camera to capture the beauty of the city, and I think I did okay (hence why this post will be split up - I took over 500 photos in 2 days!) Anyway, like I said, I was only there for a short amount of time (Friday evening to Monday morning) so I had to make the most of my time and try to fit everything in! Luckily my Mum had the same idea and decided to book a city tour on the Saturday. The weather was a bit nippy but gorgeous nonetheless, so here are some of my favourite pictures of the places we visited on the first day - I hope you enjoy!

Церковь Спаса На Крови (Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood)

Исаакиевский Собор (St. Isaac's Cathedral)

Петропавловская Крепость (Peter and Paul Fortress)

Медный Всадник (The Bronze Horseman)

Казанский Кафедральный Собор (Kazan Cathedral)

Государственный Эрмитаж и Дворцовая Площадь (The Hermitage and Palace Square)

Well that's it for day 1! By the end I needed a nap before dinner because I was so exhausted! Well I hope you guys enjoyed and keep your eyes peeled for my second post coming up soon!
